Hello from South Australia.
My brickwall for the last year is a John Jamieson and his daughter Mary. They arrived here in August 1865 aboard the "Cornwallis". The ONLY information I have is that he was 40 in 1865 and from Haddington. Mary was 12.
I have been investigating a family on the census - 1851 (Aberlady) and 1861 (Gladsmuir) This John born in Dunbar and Mary, Aberlady. This John was a shepherd/gamekeeper. This fits with the position he held here in South Australia on a remote sheep station.
However, family stories keep referring to Prestonpans and distilleries. There was also talk of not being able to afford to travel to Scotland to challenge a will.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Cheers....Kim
